How to Measure Your Kitchen Doors

Measuring everything. Because our doors are made-to-measure, we can't compromise for incorrect specs. Follow this step-by-step guide for precise compatibility.

Step 1

Measure the Door, Not the Cabinet

Open your existing cupboard door. Measure the height and width of the door itself, not the cabinet frame behind it. Measure the back of the door (the flat side) for the most accurate reading, avoiding any bevels or designs on the front.

Step 2

The 'Millimetre Rule'

Always measure in millimetres (mm). 'About 60cm' isn't precise enough. A standard door might be 596mm or 597mm. This difference matters. If you are unsure, check the manufacturer's stamp on the hinge or the back of the drawer box.

Step 3

Hinge Hole Drilling (The Critical Detail)

If you are re-using your existing hinges, we can pre-drill your new doors. To do this, we need the 'Top' and 'Bottom' positions:

1. Measure from the top edge of the door down to the centre of the top hinge hole (usually a 35mm diameter cup).
2. Measure from the bottom edge of the door up to the centre of the bottom hinge hole.
Note: Standard measurements are often 100mm, but custom kitchens vary. Measure every door.
Step 4

Box vs. Door Check (If you have no door)

If you are missing a door and need to measure the cabinet (carcass) opening:

Measure the opening width and deduct 4mm.
Measure the opening height and deduct 4mm.
This allows for the standard 2mm clearance gap around the door.
