How Much Do Made-to-Measure Shutters Cost? (2026 Guide)

Most shutter companies make you book a home survey before they'll tell you a price. We think that's backwards. This page tells you exactly how our pricing works, what drives the cost up or down, and what you can expect to pay — and our online configurator gives you your exact price in about two minutes, no appointment, no salesperson.

The short answer

Our made-to-measure shutters start from £163.20 per m², factory-direct. Your final price depends on three things: the size of your windows, the collection you choose, and the options you add. That's it — there are no survey fees, no fitting charges (our shutters are supplied ready for self-fitment) and no hidden extras. The configurator price is the whole price.

What actually drives the price

  1. Window size. Shutters are priced per square metre of your window opening — a small bathroom window costs a fraction of a full-height bay.
  2. Collection and material. Classic is a moisture-proof composite and our best-value range. Linea and Heritage are paulownia — a light, stable timber — with Heritage brushed for period detailing. Endurance adds an ABS coating built for humidity and steam. Signature is basswood, the finest finish we offer, and is priced accordingly.
  3. Options. Louvre size, tilt mechanism, frame style and finishing choices each move the price modestly. The configurator shows every choice's effect live, so nothing is hidden.

Why factory-direct costs less — honestly

A traditionally retailed shutter price typically has to cover showrooms, sales visits, surveying and installation teams. Ours doesn't: you measure (our free guide takes you through it — most windows take about five minutes), your shutters are made precisely to those measurements, you collect and fit. You keep the difference. The trade-off is stated just as plainly: your measurements are your responsibility, which is why the measuring guide exists and why the configurator asks you to confirm you've followed it.

What's NOT in our price (so you can compare fairly)

  • Fitting. Supplied ready for self-fitment. A competent DIYer fits most windows with ordinary tools; if you'd rather use a local tradesperson, budget separately for that.
  • Delivery to your door. Orders are collected from our Retford, Nottinghamshire premises once your shutters have arrived from the factory and been inspected and photographed by us.

Made to order means made for you

Because every shutter is manufactured to your stated measurements, orders are bespoke and carry no 14-day cancellation right — we state this before you buy, not after. Every order is covered by our written guarantee, provided by Sterling Grid Security Ltd — see the guarantee terms.
