Shutter styles that suit Lincoln homes

Lincoln splits neatly in two, and so do its windows. Uphill, around Bailgate and the cathedral quarter, the Georgian frontages carry tall, narrow sashes that suit Full Height shutters, or Tier-on-Tier where you want the top half open to the light and the bottom half closed. The older stone cottages take Solid Panel shutters particularly well, giving a fully enclosing, traditional look.

Downhill, the Victorian terraces have squarer bays and smaller openings, where Café Style shutters keep the street view out without darkening the room. Wider rear openings take Tracked shutters on a sliding rail. The cathedral quarter also throws up arched and angled window heads, and those are made as Special Shape shutters, measured individually rather than squared off. Where a room opens through French doors, the panels are built to clear the handles so the doors still swing. Louvre size is worth a thought too — wider louvres give a cleaner view out, narrower ones suit smaller panes.

Collection from our Retford base

Shutters are made to order against your measurements, in your choice of style, colour and louvre size, with around 10–12 weeks between order and collection. Collection is from our base in Retford. Supply-only exists to strip out the fitter's day rate: you do the fitting, so that labour never appears on the price. It makes the difference between shuttering one room and shuttering the house. Our measuring guide walks you through measuring accurately first time.
